Resume Guidelines

There is a science to resume writing and we are experts. A typical hiring manager spends only 60 seconds reading a resume (no joke). Thus, your resume needs to be concise, skim-able, and easy to read. We have clear rules and guidelines for our resume writers in order to ensure quality.

These guidelines include:

  • Only producing 1 page resumes
  • Utilizing Times New Roman or Calibri font because it has been shown in scientific studies to be the most legible font for most people
  • Using 11 or 12 point font
  • Studies have shown people don’t read paragraphs but they do read bullet points. Hence, our resumes incorporate bullet points instead of paragraphs.
  • The name of the company, your position, and job description are more important than the dates of your employment. Consequently, our resumes focus on the former by putting them on the left side of the resume, bolded, in bullets, or italicized for emphasis.
  • We divide our resumes into sections separated by lines to ensure that the hiring manager can easily find important information.
  • All final version resumes are reviewed by 2 resume writers before being sent out for quality control purposes.
  • We do not include more than 4 jobs or 7 years of work experience on a resume (it makes the client look like he or she jumps from one job to another) unless it is absolutely essential.
  • Do not include high school education on resume unless you are under 20 years old and have not attended college

This is the worst job market in recent memory and our clients expect us to give them a competitive edge with a great resume.

Hi vijay. I wanted to let you know that I got into duke! Thanks for your help.

      Kelsey (Nursing) Los Angeles, CA

Vijay is a great interview coach. Very professional. I was always so scared of interviewing before. He gave me confidence.

      Julia (Biotech) Los Angeles, CA

I was driving and thinking about who else I need to thank for their help. I thought of you and said to myself I need to text or email Vijay tonight. So sorry I didn’t get to you earlier, but the answer is YES! And I have to admit that I give you HUGE credit for my acceptance. You helped me so much with the whole process and I am so incredibly thankful for all of your help. I’ll be starting this coming fall as a medical student at Indiana University School of Medicine!!!

Danny (Medical Student) Los Angeles, CA

I was working in a bank for the last 5 years but my growth was almost zero. No appreciation, no monetary incentives and no additional benefits I was getting. Then I moved on to find a good job. I got chances to give interviews but even being an experience banker I was unable to clear the interviews. With some of my reference I took coaching classes online from Vijay and enhance my ability to answers the questions, how to sit, talk and other traits. I greatly appreciate Vijay as he makes me willingness to get success in interviews. I still in touch with vijay and recommend all to interact with him if you want bright career.

      Nancy (Banking) Dallas, TX

After the construction company I worked for over the last 5 years closed down, I found myself out of work. I went to a couple of job interviews and found I did badly. VJ at helped prepare me one on one via Skype for the interview process again and coached me on overcoming my nervousness. He also helped me tweak my resume so I would stand out. To be honest, I haven’t found a job yet, but VJ helped me in my job search.

      Keri R (Accounting) Salem, OR

My company matched [retracted] offer so I ended up staying. Still appreciate all your help. If you need a reference let me know.

Alec (Sales and Marketing) Los Angeles, CA

You gave me some good ideas about how to mention the best parts of my resume in the interview.
